How does it work?

  • You donate through the Illinois Tax Credit Program through Empower Illinois
  • You designate Ascension School on your donation
  • The Archdiocese of Chicago matching fund doubles your donation
  • You receive a Tax Credit against your 2022 Illinois income tax liability for 75% of your donation.

Now through December 31, 2022, contributions received qualify for a tax credit for the 2022 tax year and will help these families for the 2023-2024 school year. Our current economic environment has created many challenges for our local families. Tuition assistance requests have increased and will likely remain elevated for some time. With the support of our tax credit scholarship donors last year, many of Ascension's families were able to secure scholarships this school year. 

So far this school year, many of these families have been placed on the waitlist and can use the support of our community to stay an Ascension family. 
 

A matching fund through the Archdiocese will match your pre-credit donation 1:1 beginning Dec. 1 until the
$5 million fund is depleted.

2023/24 Match Program & Fundraising Information 
We are excited to announce that there will be a 1-to-1 Matching Program for TCS donations received through Empower Illinois.  This matching program will run from Dec. 1st, 2022 through March 31st, 2023, or when match pool funds are depleted, whichever occurs first.  The school matching cap has increased to $75k.  We hope that the changes to the match program will give donors an opportunity to take advantage of the program.  

You could potentially fund TWO full scholarships ($14,000 value) to Ascension School for just $1,750 through the Illinois Tax Credit Program and Empower Illinois
