PBIS Integration

The safety and well being of our students is our top priority. All Ascension students and faculty participate in the Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS). PBIS is a whole-school program that has been proven to prevent and reduce bullying throughout a school setting, and is designed to improve peer relations and make schools safer, more positive places for students to learn and develop. PBIS "is a framework of principles that can be used to increase the desired level of important social and learning outcomes.  It uses data based decision making and problem solving orientation."

Faculty workshop the program through staff development days. Define. Teach. Remind. Celebrate. Correct. Through the PBIS initiative, Ascension students also are recognized for their positive behavior with "charges" and those "charges" then may result in rewards for the students. The positive recognition for positive behavior.

We understand that children learn and develop in different ways, and we strive to support their needs to the best of our ability. Our team of Student Support Services specialists work as a team with students, teachers and parents or guardians to help every child succeed. Our Student Services Team includes a Learning Behavioral Specialist, Speech Therapist, and Reading Specialist that collaborate with Oak Park District 97 for evaluations and recommendations. Our goal is to collaborate with parents and guardians to ensure all students reach their full potential.
*We may not be able to meet the needs of all children, however we will work with families to find the best fit for their child.
