History

In 1912 the pastor of Ascension Church asked the Ursuline Sisters of Springfield to staff the new parish school.

Ascension School's First Graduating Class

They brought with them a heritage of education with honor and love. When the sisters left the school in 1985, they passed their strong heritage to a devoted lay staff who have continued teaching and nurturing each child to develop his or her individual talents and to grow in faith and service to others.

Today, Ascension is a vital community with dynamic parish and school leadership, a talented and committed professional staff and an amazing volunteer force of committed parents.

Ascension School was awarded the Blue Ribbon by the U.S. Department of Education in 2007 and celebrated one hundred years of excellence in 2012.  We know how fortunate we are at Ascension to have a rich history and tradition, grounded in the spirit of service, and blessed with the promise of a bright future.
