Background

Heather Cleaver is excited to join Ascension School as the fourth grade teacher!  Heather holds a Master’s in Elementary Education from the University of Illinois at Chicago.  This will be her twentieth-first year of teaching.  She brings a wide array of teaching experience.   For most of her career, she taught within her own self-contained classrooms, varying from preschool, first, second, and third grades. She has also taught math as a math resource teacher for fourth through eighth grades, as a summer school teacher for first through seventh grades, and as a personalized tutor.  She enjoyed being a choir director for several years.

Heather authored A Children’s Play of the Stations of the Cross, a play she directed and produced for her former students.  She also wrote, directed, and produced A Children’s Play of Our Lady of Guadalupe, which is in the process of being published.  Her students will be able to read these plays this year.

Her hobbies include hiking, biking, singing, baking, crocheting, raising black swallowtails, and practicing yoga.  Heather loves spending time with her family as well as traveling. You might catch her on the Chicago Forest Preserve Trails after school or on the weekends.
